Thinking about becoming a real estate agent?
Most new agents quit. You don't have to.
About 80% of new agents leave the business, and they make the same handful of mistakes. I've watched it happen since 2001. This site shows you how to avoid every one of them.

Hi, I'm Mike Rohrig.

Are you sure you wanna be a real estate agent?
Schools sell the license. Brokerages sell the dream. Here's the whole picture, so you walk in prepared.
The hard truth
- No salary. You can work months before your first check.
- Startup costs add up fast: classes, exam, license, board dues, MLS, marketing.
- You are a business owner on day one, whether you feel like one or not.
- Most new agents leave the business early.
The real upside
- Your income has no ceiling.
- You control your schedule and your growth.
- You help people through one of the biggest moments of their lives.
- Skills that compound for decades.
The 4 mistakes that sink most new agents
Avoid these and you're ahead of most.
Every one of them has a fix.
01
Slow start
They get ready to get ready. The first 90 days decide most careers.
The fix: Build your sphere before your license arrives.
02
No schedule
Work expands to fill the time you give it. Freedom without structure turns into drift.
The fix: A simple weekly schedule you treat like a boss set it.
03
Their own head
Smart, capable people get stuck on a story they believe about themselves.
The fix: Find that story and rewrite it.
04
Hobby thinking
They close deals and have nothing left to show for it.
The fix: A budget and a profit plan from your very first deal.

In real estate since2001
Your guide
Hi, I'm Mike. I've been where you're standing.
I got into real estate in 2001. Since then I've been an agent, a Principal Broker, and a Director of Sales for a megateam, and I've run a boutique firm. I've hired, trained, and coached more new agents than I can count.
The first day I made expired listing calls, I worried about bothering people. On my seventh call, a woman named Betty told me, "I didn't think anyone wanted to help me sell my home." Everything changed after that. I stopped worrying about bothering people and started focusing on helping them.
That's why I built this site. Too many good people walk into this business blind. Some should go all in. Some should wait. A few should do something else. Everything here is free, and it's built to help you figure out which one you are.

The 60-second check
Are you ready for real estate?
Check every statement that's true for you today. Be honest. Nobody sees this but you.
- I have 6 or more months of living expenses saved, or a working spouse or partner.
- I can set aside $1,500 to $3,000 for startup costs.
- I am comfortable calling people I know and telling them what I do.
- I can work evenings and weekends when clients need me.
- I can handle hearing no many times without taking it personally.
- I keep a schedule even when nobody is watching.
- I see this as a business, not a side hobby.
- I am willing to be coached and to change how I do things.
You have the raw material. You are thinking like a business owner already. The next step is knowing exactly what it will cost and what your first 90 days look like.
You could make it, with eyes open. A few gaps could sink you in year one. Close them before you spend money on classes.
Slow down before you spend a dime. That is not a no. It means you need the full picture first. Start with what it really costs.

The long game
Getting in and out of real estate safely
Most people only plan for getting licensed. The agents who last plan all three stages.

Liftoff
The first year is the hardest
It starts before your license. Licensing, fees, brokerage choice, and your first 90 days.

Cruising altitude
Avoid the roller coaster
Most agents ride feast and famine. Consistency is something you build on purpose.

Common questions
Questions people ask me first
Is everything here really free?
Yes. The guides, the readiness check, the checklist, and the style match are all free.
What kind of emails will I get?
Short ones, timed to where you are. Picking a school, passing the exam, choosing a brokerage, your first 90 days. Unsubscribe anytime.
I haven't taken classes yet. Is it too early?
That’s the best time. The biggest mistakes happen before the license: the wrong school, the wrong brokerage, the wrong expectations.
Can I talk to you directly?
Yes. When you’re ready, book a free call. We’ll talk about where you are and what your first 90 days could look like. If you want to talk about where to hang your license, I’ll share what I know, including where I work and why. Only if you ask.
What if I'm already licensed and struggling?
